How minimal is the the DF83's retention?

Tests have shown the DF83 only has about 0.2 grams of retention with proper use of the bellows. For scale, 0.2 grams of retention is 1/90th of 18 grams (a typical modern espresso dose). Compared to a traditional grinder with 6 grams of retention—about 1/3rd of 18 grams—the freshness difference is significant.

What kind of burrs come stock with the DF83?

The DF83 ships with Italmill 83mm flat burrs. We also have an optional upgrade to SSP HU burrs, for those who using darker/medium roasts or looking for more body in their espresso shots.

Does the DF83 include a hopper?

In addition to the 50g capacity single dose blow hopper (bellows), the DF83 does ship with an included 225g hopper.

The rubber O-rings keep ground coffee from getting under the burrs.
